PSE Raised Rates 12% in 2026

Stop Paying PSE.
Start Owning Your Power.

Puget Sound Energy raised your rates 11.5% in 2025. Then another 12% in 2026. A $400 monthly bill becomes $547 by year four — and it doesn't stop there.

Solar + battery storage locks in your energy cost at zero for the next 25 years. Washington's 0% sales tax exemption and the 30% federal tax credit make now the best time to act.

The Math Is Brutal

What PSE Rate Hikes Actually Cost You

In early 2025, Puget Sound Energy received approval for an 11.5% rate increase. Before that could fully hit homeowners' wallets, they filed for — and received — an additional 12% increase in 2026.

If your average electric bill today is $400 per month, you can expect to pay roughly $547/month by year four— even if you don't change a single habit in your home. That's an extra $1,764 per year evaporating from your household budget.

Solar doesn't just slow that curve. It eliminates it. Once your system is installed, your "fuel cost" is literally the sun — which has never raised its rates and never will.

Financial Benefits

The Incentives Are Stacked in Your Favor

Between federal tax credits, Washington State exemptions, and net metering, the government has made going solar cheaper than ever. Here's exactly what's on the table.

Save $10,500+

30% Federal Tax Credit

The federal Inflation Reduction Act gives you a dollar-for-dollar tax credit equal to 30% of your total solar and battery system cost. On a $35,000 system, that's $10,500 back at tax time — not a deduction, a credit.

~10% Off Upfront

0% Washington Sales Tax

Washington State exempts solar and battery equipment from sales tax entirely. That means you skip roughly 10% on equipment costs at the point of purchase — thousands of dollars in instant savings before the system ever generates a watt.

Year-Round Savings

Net Metering — Bank the Summer, Spend in Winter

Washington's net metering laws let you bank the credits your panels generate during our long summer days and draw them down against your winter utility bills. Your meter runs backward in June. You cash in those credits in December.

20+ Years of Free Power

Full Cash ROI in 6–9 Years

A typical $30,000–$40,000 system achieves a full cash return on investment in approximately 6.6 to 8.8 years — after which you generate electricity for free for the remaining 15–20 years of panel life.

For the Pacific Northwest

Clean Energy. Real Impact.

100% Clean Energy

Solar generates electricity from free, renewable sunshine — with zero emissions, zero fuel, and zero noise.

Dramatically Lower Carbon Footprint

A typical residential solar install offsets the equivalent of planting hundreds of trees every single year.

Reduce Grid Dependence

Every kilowatt you generate at home is a kilowatt that doesn't have to be burned at a coal or gas plant. Less grid draw means a cleaner PNW for everyone.

Whole-home backup. Power through any outage.

Add Battery Storage

Don't Let Your Solar Go to Waste After Dark

Your solar panels generate the most power midday — but your household uses the most energy in the morning and evening. Without a battery, that excess midday power gets exported to the grid for a fraction of what it's worth.

With battery storage, every kilowatt your panels generate gets used by your home first. Excess gets banked for nights, cloudy stretches, and grid outages.

When the power goes out across your neighborhood, your home stays on. Lights, fridge, Wi-Fi — everything keeps running, silently and automatically.

Washington State Requirement

Solar Installs Require Licensed Electricians

Washington State L&I requires that all electrical work — including solar system wiring, inverter connection, and battery integration — be performed by a licensed electrical contractor and certified electricians. This isn't a formality; it's the law, and it protects your home, your family, and your investment.

Every REC installation is fully permitted, inspected, and signed off by the Authority Having Jurisdiction. We handle the paperwork, pull the permits, and make sure your system qualifies for every incentive — including the 30% federal tax credit, which requires a compliant install.
